Rae, I didn’t think of it at the time, there was too much else on my mind – he had me mixed up with some other young musician in town, and once I realized he was Terry Jacks I was a little blown away. Also a big soundtrack to my youngest memories (I know you’ll remember that greatest hits album we had kicking around at home).

But we had another connection, because he had a late release on March records (which Fancey was on – almost making us label-mates), and the label head Skippy had told me some cool stories, like meeting up with him in Chicago and randomly running into Liz Phair. He’d never heard of her, but she gushed about the Poppy Family; then they all had steak. Anyway, he’s a super nice guy and very humble.

I love The Poppy Family, and I’m so glad A Good Thing Lost is so readily available. I had a hard time finding it before the iTunes store and its buddies Emusic and Amazon came along – I was actually browsing the P section at A&B Sound, and I found a copy of the CD right after Iggy Pop. It was such a good day!
